I am the webmaster of Transwing, just a regular queer individual always trying to discover more stuff to consume.Originally, I intended to make this blog just to share my reviews on a variety of things, but after a while I thought getting more creative about it would be great, so I might actually expand the blog to something more.
I've been a fan of doujin music and Touhou Project since 2009, then I ended up discovering a lot of other things when it came to manga, anime and games. I hope you'll be able to find new things of interest thanks to this blog!

This blog started off with the purpose of keeping records about my interests that I could not fully reveal on other sites. This was not my first time with blogging and I was already on Tumblr in 2014. However, life moved its course as I became older and I lost track of time due to adult life. Eventually, I had to give up on blogging and I ended up switching my focus solely on Discord and gaming.Over the years, I have come to a realization that keeping a memory of my old self was important. My taste and standards have changed so much compared to when I was still a middle schooler, which would be a shame to have lost a whole track record of those past memories. Another issue I had is that many of the platforms I used in the past have died out, such as community forums, Tumblr, Blogspot, Skyrock, Eklablog, etc. There has been such a massive shift on the internet after Discord got introduced, so I no longer bothered exploring things online unless if I really needed something.
All I ever did after that was using an anime tracking site and stick to Discord, but I was still craving for that creative freedom... so here I am now.

Welcome to the writing section of TRANSWING. I can't really say I'm the greatest writer, but looking at how I've wasted enough time in university doing paperwork, I think it should be good enough!
This part of the blog is meant for me to write my ramblings about stuff in general. A lot of people like to use it in a similar way you would use a diary, in which you would write the musings of your daily life. Problem is that my daily life is not all that interesting though... Please understand that I might struggle to write anything!

First post of the month and I somewhat still feel unsure about the prospective interest that this blog could possibly offer... I have a lot of ambition for this one, yet I don't even know where I should start because there's too many things I want to do with it. The biggest hurdle for this blog is definitely going to be the media log, because of just how much media I want to cover.
I think the easiest choice would probably be the music albums or music artists reviews, in a similar vein to what you would see on RateYourMusic. Writing a review over music probably wouldn't take too long or be too big in lenght compared to a review you would write about a story from a film or a book. However, I have to think of how to set it up in an efficient manner inside this blog, and I also need to avoid make it look too similar to how other people do their media log for music as well (it's definitely going to be tough). I do have some ideas in mind but I think it will take me a lot of time and modifications to reach satisfaction.
Anyway, something just crossed my mind as I was contemplating what to do with the media log and I realized that making a fashion section for archive fashion could be an interesting idea since I haven't seen that yet around the blogs I've browsed. But, this would also mean that if I start dividing the categories by brand, I would need to re-arrange it the same way I would do the blog part... Perhaps I should do a complete different layout for that? The thing is, I really want to keep everything on the main page, it just feels more efficient and comfortable to me, so I'll probably put that project idea on the backburner for now.
I genuinely can't wait to see how this blog will turn out. I'm trying to find some time outside of work to get things done on the blog, but I keep getting distracted by other things somehow!!

This album is quite different from the previous, with much more rock added in on some tracks. It still has some of the typical pop music touch from the previous release though, so I ended up quite liking it as the whole album felt very y2k vibes. I've heard people say that Akriila's lyricism is boring, however I have no idea how true this is since I didn't put much focus on the lyricism. The only thing I don't like is when things sound too repetitive and I didn't see much of that in this release.

I'm going to be real, I would have never thought that latino dnb could be this good until I heard this album. The dnb ones are easily the most satisfying tracks in this release, while the rest seems quite hit or miss for me. The language isn't much of an issue for me when it comes to my enjoyment for music in general. I've been really curious about Akriila's other releases after this one, since I didn't dislike 'epistolares' after listening to it quite a bit.

This release is much more raw compared to their previous release, with much more hardstyle focused beats. I think it's a really cool concept to incorporate vocals into hardstyle beats, actually might just be one of my favorite things because while it certainly isn't my first rodeo with hardstyle, I wish it had vocals more often than not. One problem though is that I didn't like the last track 'Copycat', it sounded like a whole mashup of nothing and I kind of wish it wasn't there. I'm gonna keep coping for that album release though!

I am genuinely obsessed with this korean duo! My oldschool edm nostalgia is definitely affecting my opinion on this release, because it scratches an itch I've been craving for so long. My only grip with this release is the fact it's too short, some songs are only a minute long and I wish it was longer. This group has a lot of potential and I'm really looking forward to a full album release one of these days.

I don't consider myself much of an alt rock enthusiast, in fact, I tend to not listen to the genre as much as I would and it's been a thing for such a long time throughout my life... There are just so many alt rock artists that my friends keep listening to and that I have absolutely no clue about, even some really popular groups (and honestly I should probably feel ashamed haha). However, curiosity often catches up to me when it comes to music, so I ended up discovering Julia Wolf really on a whim. This release is more or less great, it's got some good tracks that I keep putting on repeat and others that didn't really hit the right spot for me.

The last album under the Sewerslvt alias, after the tragic passing of the artist's girlfriend. This album delivers such strong messages and the synergy between every song is definitely there. It really distinguishes itself from the past releases, as it feels much more cohesive and the overall ambiance is very different on each track, which makes it feel like you can understand what the song is trying to express despite there not being any lyrics at all. It's an album that I keep coming back to, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to give Sewerslvt a listen for the first time.

Putting all of the controversies aside, I think many people have heard of Sewerslvt before or at least seen a song of them show up on Youtube. From what I've seen, real dnb fans don't consider Sewerslvt as an artist that is part of the genre, and while I do recognize that the music is very different from traditional dnb, I think the core aspect of their music is how it goes against the norm. It has a certain unique vibe to it that stands out, melancholic yet dreadful sounding at the same time. While this album's got some really nice atmospheric beats, some tracks can sound overly repetitive and seem to lack synergy to each other.

This album was my very first introduction to the artist, when I discovered the track 'Mr. Kill Myself' on a whim and ended up listening to it. One thing that gets mentioned often by people is that this release sounds like it's mostly breakcore. However, from as far as I've been listening to that genre, I don't consider this release to be entirely as such, there are some occasional breaks but it doesn't sound fully breakcore like the kind you'd hear from Goreshit or t+pazolite. For me, this release does have that typical melodious and atmospherical flair you'd hear from Sewerslvt's songs, but it's much more rough and edgy. The track 'Swinging in His Cell' perfectly encapsulates what I'm talking about and it has such an incredible sense of dread in it from start to finish that you can really feel the power of it's message. I keep coming back often to this release and I don't think this is as bad as some people think it is.

This review is for the limited edition version of this soundtrack, which has an incredible cover art from Yoshitaka Amano and features an additional disc, totaling with 8 discs of music. It's a lot, but it's definitely worth the ride. It has impeccable quality in terms of production and if you are someone who enjoys badass music, this is the album you need to listen. Soken does a great job on most of the songs, however there is a lot of 'filler' tracks that sound samey, especially the classical music ones who aren't anything particularly incredible. Some tracks which sound a bit different like Do or Die or Titan Lost stand out a lot and feel like a nice change among all the other tracks that tend to sound similar.

Pretty short soundtrack that is perfectly balanced by the incredible quality of production for all the songs, featuring a live performance orchestra. It has a few really good songs that are quite memorable and some other that aren't particularly interesting. The only song that seems to have vocals is 'Aria Di Mezzo Carattere' and its honestly my favorite song in this soundtrack. I wish there were more songs like that one because I absolutely love sopranos.

Odin Sphere was what I would call one of those stereotypical fairytale series, however it is a very memorable game mainly because its presentation was so unique for its time. The soundtrack particularly reflects this fantasy energy, with some of them sounding a bit like Nier's but with a much more upbeat tone. Unfortunately, I find some songs in the soundtrack a bit lacking in uniqueness and they might sound similar to each other. The arrange side of the album is pretty good and we can tell there's been some improvement for some songs, but this is a fairly okay soundtrack compared to the rest of Vanillaware's discography.

One of Vanillaware's greatest soundtracks in their discography, despite the fact that it doesn't beat Oboromuramasa's, it still stands at the top. There isn't a single bad song in this entire soundtrack and every track stands out perfectly. This is Hitoshi Sakimoto at his finest talent and I highly recommend to listen to it if you are a sucker for that oldschool magical fantasy type of atmosphere. You will also notice that some tracks reuse the trademark melody from the Dragon's Crown title theme, all the while still sounding different by using a variety of instruments and tone, which is absolutely awesome.

Here it is, one of the greatest soundtrack I've ever heard in gaming. I thought that after Okami, there was no chance I'd find a soundtrack with such incredible sounding traditional japanese music, but Vanillaware proved me wrong with this. Some tracks even feel reminiscent of Shin Megami Tensei's flair with very loud and powerful sounds, especially on 'Inscrutable Stratagem' for example. Honestly, every song in this is excellent and I have a hard time even picking a favorite, I just keep coming back to this soundtrack relentlessly. It reached a point where I've wanted to keep replaying the game just to be able to re-experience those songs and that mythical japanese folklore atmosphere over and over again.

The most instrumental focused release from Anipix and also the only one you will hear from the group ever in its history. Surprisingly, despite the fact there is close to no vocals on this release, it is actually the best one they've produced because every track feels cohesive and unique. This album also perfectly encapsulates the trance trend of the early 2000s. It really shows how Syrufit was not only good at doing vocals but also instrumentals, which is something that will follow through their future releases. 1 Chain marks the final album from Anipix and the group will change the label name to Studio Syrup Comfiture afterwards.

Probably the weakest release within the Anipix discography, however this isn't to say that there aren't any banger songs in here. If you listen to 'Fantastic Prhythm Show', you will notice that it sounds an AWFUL lot similar to something you'd hear from Capsule or Perfume, it's honestly incredible. This album has a lot of songs that are hit or miss, as well as some tracks that sound straight up terrible such as 'Soul of Fragment'. Nonetheless, the group is still trying out a variety of genres and it shows a lot throughout most of the songs in this album.

As you would expect from Anipix, it seems like they are on a roll on dropping quite a few bangers. We are at the second release from a group that just started out fresh, and perhaps the only flaw in this release is the fact that that you can definitely tell the sound production quality was quite old. Some more experimental tracks are still present just like in their previous release, which can be a hit or miss depending on how it sounds, such as 'Cute Egoist!!' that sounds a bit like a rocky mess and 'Hypnotryst' that might have gone a bit too overboard with the hardcore sounds.

The very first album from the group Anipix, which will also be famously known as Syrufit later on. This is pretty much where it all began from the group, and even for a first release, it features some strong tracks that are very typical from them, with lots of experimental edm and vocals. You can tell this is their first testing ground because tracks like 'Purification' sound so bizarre and niche that it's not something you'd usually hear considering it's time, since upbeat J-core was at its peak. Still a powerful release for a first time and definitely worth the listen.

I think this is easily the most underrated touhou album. Spctrm, the main artist and founder of the (now dead) circle 'fromadistance', is a very niche music artist compared to most of their peers. Instead of dabbling into genres that are widely dominating the doujin music scene, spctrm focuses on a variety of traditional instruments to create an unique folklore atmosphere, mixing in other sounds to make it more eerie and dreamlike. Duende delivers the highest level of production quality from spctrm compared to their first two albums, it seems to have the perfect balance between overly majestic beats and more soothing folklore songs, all the while staying true to the vibes that befit the original themes.

A decent album from spctrm that focuses even further into the folklore aspect for every track. Some of them are very orchestra like, in order to give it a sense of power to the track combined with the more soothing traditional instruments. The track called 'in saecula saeculorum' perfectly inhabits this royalty flair from Lunatic Princess, along with the traditional japanese instruments befitting the moon legend.

This is a strong starting release from spctrm, with most tracks being worth the listen and I haven't found a single one worth skipping. I would say that the only downside is that some tracks suffer from being too similar to each other, particularly Veda, still calling and kamunagara. There is also a guest appearance of Mei Ayakura as a vocalist for the song called 'avatar', but we barely get to hear her voice which is a bit of a shame.

The final release from Poplica*, as well as their greatest release to date. Marking the end of the circle, it features a lot of excellent tracks alongside a few strong guest appearances notably Taishi and spctrm, combined with some really good vocalists as well. No matter how many times I've listened to this album, I simply cannot find a single song to dislike, and unfortunately for TAK-sk, I don't think they have been able to make something this good after leaving Poplica* in the dust. They went to work in Arte Refact for a while, a different circle that does original songs, then proceeded to leave Arte Refact to make songs for the idol and anime industry as a freelancer. You probably have heard them on some Idolmaster and Love Live songs without realizing, but this is where they are at now.

The album from Poplica* that was released in tandem with 'over' from Syrufit. This release also lacks a bit in vocal variety but its still better than its Syrufit counterpart, since we got eerie and Tsubaki Ichimatsu for the vocals. While being a bit less EDM heavy than Syrufit, tracks such as maplelove and Hanamatsuri really showcase the musical diversity of Poplica*, being able to create some really relaxing beats.

While being a fairly short album coming from Poplica*, this one is definitely worth the listen. It features some vocal tracks with a lot of electro and guitar riffs mixed in, which blend perfectly well with each other and is a recurrent musical aspect from TAK-sk. Another thing is that the instrumental tracks are extremely good in this album and they perfectly showcase the talent that TAK-sk has in creating soothing dreamlike beats, which I would put them on the same level as Cororo from Tamaonsen in that regard.

The first album from TAK-sk's new label as Poplica*, which perfectly encapsulates his style throughout every song. The slow separation from Syrufit is what enabled TAK-sk to develop his own music style more and to expand his range in terms of genres. Because of this, I strongly believe that TAK-sk was truly shining when it came to trance music than rock/ballad music, just listen to the track 'Reversible' and you will be able to understand what I'm talking about.

The final release from Syrufit, which will mark a long term radio silence from the circle until they showed up several years later under the ALADDIN name. This album might not be as excellent as past releases such as Where is Love or Love=All, however I still think it's a good album worth listening to just like with Avidya. It's got a few solid tracks and important guest appearances with Shibayan and Nhato, who of course made some awesome stuff in this album just like in the past. However, this album is not only short, but not particularly experimental and so it feels like the usual jam for your average Syrufit listener.

A nice album from Syrufit, but one which I feel is heavily carried by the Shibayan track on 'R.I.N.'. Many of the other songs are kinda filler-ish and don't particularly stand out. I also didn't like the remix for monochrome by Tomoyuki Sakakida in this, but it's probably because I don't really like dubstep in general. There are some excellent songs still, but not a lot and the problem is that if I were to gauge the whole album compared to what they did before, I still think Avidya was way better than Blossom by a large margin.

A pretty good album from start to finish, and honestly at this point, it's been hard for Syrufit to make anything bad. I dare say they have been going on a streak of good stuff consistently after their Love Buzz album. There is a new vocalist on this album that might be a bit of a surprise who's name is Cathy, however she did work for kimino-museum prior to this album so she's got experience, but she still managed to do an excellent job this time around. I would like to give a special mention for Nhato for doing the remix of innocent in this release, an excellent dubstep track coming from him considering he doesn't normally do dubstep. The track called 'candle' is a very unique piece compared to the other songs, very soothing and relaxing piece that tickles your mind and heart, and easily the best song in this release.

There are a lot of instrumental tracks in this compared to the vocal tracks, with a select few of them being good such as Let It Out and Closed. The vocal tracks are mainly remixes done by TAK-sk from Poplica*, and of course they are nice for the most part, except for Empty fate which I believe doesn't beat the original.

An okay album from Syrufit, features a few really good songs while the rest seem to be just okay fillers. This release also lacks in vocal variety, with Mei Ayakura being present in most songs and just 2 tracks with eerie's vocals. Poplica* is lead by TAK-sk and Syrufit is lead by hiro.na, and both artists used to work together in the past but TAK-sk started distancing himself from Syrufit and go his own path.

Pretty damn good album from Syrufit, which I think is considered one of their top 3 for most people. The track 'Listen up' features the greatest combination of Nhato and 3L, a well known vocalist, and honestly it feels like black magic how amazing it is. A lot of tracks in this album are very reminiscent of the early days of Syrufit, back when they were known as Anipix, but the difference here is that the production quality is through the roof. The track 'Broken puzzle' is a perfect example of that, sounding very similar to 'Stigma' from Anipix and it's got that excellent smooth sounding electro beats that gives it an early 2000s energy.

This album is a good introduction to the circle's music, featuring some of the best and well known songs from Syrufit. An important thing to note is that some tracks are re-arranged versions of older songs from past releases, allowing us to experience these songs with better production quality, which was quite lacking when Syrufit started off in a different name as Anipix. The rearranged version for 'innocent' improved the song a lot, but I still prefer the Nhato remix of it...

This is a solid release from Syrufit, with this time a lot of songs that have 3L's amazing voice in them. It also has Linjin, the main arranger from CYTOKINE, working on this album and in tandem with another vocalist from his circle called aki. I think this is one of the very few albums where I've gotten the chance to hear Linjin's own voice on a track, which is something he usually doesn't do. The track called 'BAD' has a bit of a Daft Punk flair to it which I think was a pretty nice listen overall even if it wasn't my favorite song in this album.

This is Syrufit's greatest album of all time, without a shred of doubt. After that lackluster release from Love Buzz, this was the most anticipated release from them and I finally understand why. There is simply ZERO bad songs in this album, everything is high quality, everything feels different, everything just simply feels like it was crafted by the finest black magic possible. It features a lot of notable artists and vocalists such as Nhato, Masayoshi Minoshima, Linjin, Shibayan, 3L, etc. It's just such an insane lineup and it's hard to believe there was something this good in 2010!

An okay album from Syrufit but probably their weakest, it's not as strong as their other releases but still worth a decent listen. This time around, we have a few guest features from members of a circle called kimino-museum, notably the vocalists fi-fy and Cherose, along with PHEVOTT the arranger. While fi-fy is a great vocalist, I am not really a fan of Cherose's vocals and PHEVOTT is an ok arranger but hasn't done anything peculiarly outstanding music wise. At kimino-museum, he is mostly known for his songs that focus on classical music and ballad, which is why the song he did in this album for Syrufit is about as chill as the stuff he usually does. I kind of feel the main purpose of this album was to be a collab album with kimino-museum, but I can't say for sure.

This is the album that truly started it all, their very first album under the Syrufit name. A powerful starting release from the group, putting them neck to neck with some of the biggest touhou doujin arrangers of its time alongside the likes of Alstroemeria Records, Alice's Emotion and Cytokine in the doujin music scene. You could really feel how perfectly synced TAK-sk and hiro.na were on this release, providing a perfect subtle mix of electro and alt rock on a few tracks. We also get to have a good variety of vocalists in this album, allowing us to experience how different ranges of voices fit extremely well with some of the songs since Mei Ayakura isn't always the perfect fit. I highly recommend listening to 'hitokata.', which is an absolute banger of a song in this release.
